From I Love You Cause I have to to

20 August 2007

Love it or hate it is the contrast Marmite use in their advertising. Marmite is something you can spread on your bread, if you’re so inclined. Bread is made by a baker. Baker is also a surname, for example like Tom Baker. Tom Baker among other roles played in Doctor Who. Kylie Minogue played a role in a Christmas special of Doctor Who. Kylie is from Australia, as is actor Russell Crowe. Russell Crowe played Wendell ‘Bud’ White in the film L.A. Confidential. White is also a colour. T-Shirts come in many colours, but a very popular colour is probably the plain white T-shirt. Which cleverly links us to Hey There Delilah by the Plain White Ts.

From Jump in my Car to

20 July 2007

To jump leads to jumping. Jumping is something you might do for joy. Joy Division is a band which had a hit with Love will tear us apart. Apart is the opposite of together. Together seems to mean Tillsammans in Swedish. Henrik Larsson is Swedish. After playing for Celtic, Barcelona and ManU he now plays for Helsingborg.  Helsingborg is also the birthplace of Ruben Rausing, who founded Tetra Pak. If you take the Pak away you’re left with Tetra, which is a company producing fish food and stuff like that. Fish are animals, kind of like dogs are animals. It is very dangerous to leave a dog in a car during the summer. Which cleverly links us to Dogs Die In Hot Cars with I Love You Cause I Have To.

From White Wedding to

19 July 2007

For some people a white wedding is more or less quickly followed up by a messy divorce. Princess Diana was divorced from Prince Charles, who also holds the title of Prince of Wales. Wales is a country in the United Kingdom, right next to England. From England you can take a ferry or a train across the channel to France. France is a country next to Germany. A lot of people think Germany is synonymus with Bavaria and everyone wears Lederhosen and listens to oom-pah music. In addition to oom-pah music The Hoff is allegedly very popular in Germany, which cleverly links us to David Hasselhoff and Jump in my Car.

From Making Plans for Nigel to

18 July 2007

If you add la to Nigel you get Nigella, which is the first name of a British celebrity cook. A cook usually works in a kitchen. In a kitchen you will find an oven, which is an appliance. A washing machine is also an appliance. You use a washing machine to wash dirty clothes. Clothes are things people wear. Wear rhymes with tear. A tear is something you can shed when you’re very sad, some people also cry when they’re very happy. Like at a wedding. Which cleverly links us to Billy Idol and White Wedding.

From Charlotte to

18 July 2007

Charlotte is a girls (or a womans) name, it can also be the name of a place though, like Port Charlotte on the Isle of Islay. On Islay they make a lot of whisky, something Keith Richards likes to drink. Keith Richards is in a band called the Rolling Stones. Stones in the form of standing stones is something you might find in a stone circle. An example of a famous stone circle is Avebury in Wiltshire. Avebury is quite close to Swindon. Swindon is where XTC are from, which cleverly links us to Making Plans for Nigel by XTC.

From Into The Valley To

17 July 2007

Into the Valley could have been called Into the Glen, glen being Scottish for valley. Kenny Dalglish is also Scottish, he played for Celtic Football Club and later for Liverpool. If you take away the pool from Liverpool you are left with liver. The liver is an organ humans have, Hannibal Lecter enjoyed eating one with some fava beans and a nice Chianti. Chianti is a wine from Italy, which is close to Austria. In 1857 Archduke Maximilian of Austria married Charlotte of Belgium, which cleverly links us to Charlotte by Air Traffic.

From Jimmy Jimmy to

17 July 2007

Jimmy Jimmy contains 4 Ms, similar to that MMMM MMMMM song by the Crash Test Dummies. Crash Test Dummies will be used when developing a new car. Cars often drive on motorways, which are called Autobahn in Germany. Autobahn is a song by Kraftwerk. Kraftwerk is the German word for Power Station. John Power used to play in a band called Cast. Cast came from Liverpool. Liverpool is quite close to Manchester in England. The late Stuart Adamson was born in Manchester. Stuart Adamson played in Big Country and before that founded The Skids in 1977. Which cleverly links us to The Skids and Into The Valley.

From Comedy Dave To

17 July 2007

Comedy Dave shares his name with Dave McKean, who among other things design postcards. To send a postcard you need to buy stamps at the post office. In the UK the post offices belong to Royal Mail. This goes back to the Monarchy, which the Sex Pistols weren’t too keen on. Lead vocalist of the Sex Pistols was Johnny Rotten. The name Johnny begins with a J, as does the name Jimmy. Which cleverly links us to Jimmy Jimmy by the Undertones

How to get started?

17 July 2007

Comedy Dave does tedious links on the Chris Moyles Show. But I’ve also seen it played on boards, forum and similar site. So I’m going to do it on this blog.

Now I only need to figure out who to cleverly link from Comedy Dave to the first song…
